Sermon: “Perspectives on Healing” – Luke 5:17-26 – Pastor Mark Rogers
A Word from Our Bulletin:
When we think of healing, our thoughts naturally turn to the body. We pray for relief from pain, recovery from illness, and strength for those whose bodies have grown weak. And rightly so. Throughout His earthly ministry, Jesus showed extraordinary compassion toward those who suffered. He touched the untouchable, restored the broken, and welcomed those who came to Him in desperate need.
Yet Jesus continually showed that our deepest need reaches beyond the physical. A healthy body cannot mend a heart separated from God. Physical healing may change our circumstances for a season, but the grace of Christ changes us for eternity.
This gives us a greater perspective on healing. We can come confidently to God with our physical needs, trusting that He sees our suffering and cares deeply for us. But we also recognize that His work may reach places within us that we did not realize needed healing. He offers forgiveness for our sin, peace for our troubled hearts, strength in our weakness, and hope that suffering cannot destroy.
Sometimes God changes our circumstances; sometimes He gives us grace to endure them. In either case, our greatest hope is not simply in what Christ can do for us, but in Christ Himself.
