A Heart for the Word
A heart for God’s Word begins with a desire to know God Himself. The Bible is not merely a collection of inspiring thoughts, moral lessons, or comforting promises. It reveals who God is, what He has done, and how His people are called to live.
When we open the Scriptures, we should come with humility and attentiveness. We do not read simply to confirm our opinions or find encouragement for present circumstances. We read to be corrected, instructed, and transformed. God’s Word often confronts what is false within us, but it also leads us toward wisdom, freedom, and faithfulness.
A tender heart is willing to listen when God speaks. It does not dismiss uncomfortable truth or delay obedience. Instead, it recognizes that correction is an act of mercy. God lovingly reveals where we have wandered so that we may return to Him.
Knowing the Word should lead to living the Word. What we learn about God should shape our worship, relationships, choices, and priorities. Spiritual maturity is not measured only by how much Scripture we can explain, but by how deeply its truth has changed us.
May we approach God’s Word with reverence, study it diligently, receive it humbly, and obey it courageously. A heart for the Word longs to know God and is willing to be transformed by what He has spoken.
