Freedom Worth Celebrating
As we celebrate Independence Day weekend and our nation’s 250th anniversary, we pause to thank God for the remarkable blessings of freedom that have shaped our country’s history.
For two and a half centuries, generations of Americans have enjoyed liberties that many around the world still long to experience—including the freedom to worship God openly, gather as the Church, and proclaim the Gospel without fear. We are grateful for those who have courageously served and sacrificed to help preserve these freedoms.
Yet as Christians, we remember that our greatest freedom is not found in any earthly government. Through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, we have been set free from the power of sin and given the gift of eternal life. The freedoms we enjoy as citizens are precious, but they can never compare to the lasting freedom found in our Savior.
As we reflect on this historic milestone, may our gratitude extend beyond fireworks and celebrations. Let us thank God for the blessings of our nation, pray faithfully for our leaders, seek His wisdom for our country’s future, and use our freedoms to love our neighbors and boldly share the hope of the Gospel.
