Sermon: “Called to Compassion” – Matthew 25:31-46 – Pastor Mark Rogers
A Word From Our Bulletin:
Not all of us can do great things, but we can do small things with great love. Compassion begins not in grand gestures, but in the quiet, everyday moments when we choose to see and respond to the needs around us. It is easy to overlook those who are hungry, lonely, or hurting, especially when their suffering feels distant from our own lives. Yet true love calls us to draw near, to notice, and to act with care and patience.
Each person we encounter carries a burden we may not see or understand. A kind word, a warm meal, a gentle touch, or even a listening ear can become a powerful expression of God’s love and presence in the world. We are not asked to solve every problem or to fix everything, but we are called to care, to be attentive, and to act with humility. When we serve others with sincere love, patience, and understanding, we are serving Christ Himself and bringing light into the places of darkness.
Let us not wait for the perfect opportunity to show compassion. Instead, let us be faithful in the small things, trusting that even the simplest act of love can make a lasting difference in someone’s life, encouraging hope, and spreading God’s kindness wherever we go.
