Sermon: “Freedom” (Part 3) – 2 Corinthians 3:10-18 – Pastor Mark Rogers

There is a kind of life that grows dim when it is centered on outward performance, tradition, or human effort alone. Even things that were once meaningful can become empty when they are treated as the goal instead of the means. But when the heart turns toward the living God, something remarkable happens: clarity replaces confusion, and heaviness gives way to freedom.
Spiritual life is not meant to be static or bound by a system that only informs the mind. It is meant to be transforming, reshaping a person from the inside out. As one turns toward God with openness, what once felt hidden becomes clear. What once felt distant becomes near. The result is not self-improvement by discipline alone, but a deep inward renewal produced by the Spirit of God.
This transformation is not instant perfection, but a continual change—like a mirror slowly reflecting more light as it faces the sun. The more a person turns toward God, the more they begin to reflect His character with increasing clarity.
A.W. Tozer often emphasized that true faith is not merely learning about God, but encountering Him in a way that changes everything. Where the Spirit is truly at work, there is freedom, and that freedom always leads toward greater likeness to Christ.
